Macaron Flavour of the Month – July

What a glorious summer we are enjoying here in Hampshire! Although today is a little cooler and the garden was even treated to a few refreshing drops of rain this afternoon, the weather has been fantastic for weeks! Barbeques, picnics, summer parties, Pimms, strawberries and cream, relaxed breakfasts in the garden and lazy evenings on the patio watching the sun go down are becoming a way of life.
Summer fruits abound and they make such lovely flavours for macarons. My favourite macaron favour this month – which has been very popular with brides – is raspberry cream. A delicate melange of white chocolate, cream and raspberries generously layered between a pair of pale pink macaron shells is not only delicious but a delight to regard. A rather decadent cocktail of Cassis, a summer fruits and vanilla syrup and plenty of summer fruit topped up with chilled Prosecco is the ideal companion. Set out the croquet lawn and you have the perfect way to spend a Sunday afternoon!
